To effectively integrate the enhanced curriculum of DTI’s Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) in Cagayan Valley, DTI R2 YEP Focal Persons participated in a comprehensive learning session dubbed, “YEP! You Can Be Your Own Boss!” Training of Master Trainers, facilitated by the Education Development Center and funded and supported by USAID through Opportunity 2.O Program, held at the City Garden Grand Hotel, Makati City, on March 8–10.
This was a follow-on activity to the agreement between DTI and USAID O2 to develop an enhanced curriculum for the DTI’s Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) that will be used to standardize its content and implementation across all the regions.
During the activity, the participants were capacitated on how to facilitate training for aspiring and existing young entrepreneurs using the enhanced YEP Curriculum. Also demonstrated were excellent facilitation skills and command of content and instruction through roleplays and teaching demonstrations. Among the participants from DTI R2 were Ms. Janine Arevalo, Ms. Mary Rose Dumpit, and Ms. Jannyn Lafeguera.
“YEP! You Can Be Your Own Boss!” is the upgraded YEP integrated with the ‘Be Your Own Boss Program” and now has ready-made modules to be used to standardize the entrepreneurship training for the youths, including the out-of-school youth (OSY), persons with disabilities (PWD), in-school youth, indigenous people (IP), and youth not in employment, education, or training (NEET), among others.
It may be recalled that USAID Opportunity 2.0 (O2) and the DTI inked a partnership in 2021 to ensure valuable out-of-school youth are given the support they need to become productive members of society by way of entrepreneurship.
By the third quarter of this year, DTI R2 will carry out the same training to properly implement the upgraded YEP curriculum in the region. *
