ISABELA — On April 25, 2023, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Isabela held a webinar via Zoom entitled “Clearing the Smoke: Understanding the Legal Obligations of Vape Retailers and Manufacturers under RA 11900.” The objective of the webinar was to educate retailers, manufacturers, and importers of vaporized nicotine and non-nicotine products about the newly issued Republic Act No. 11900 or the Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products Regulation Act.

The webinar’s resource person, STIDS Lovell Mark Campania, discussed the law’s salient features, particularly on product standards, health warnings, and signs, and the do’s and don’ts in the sale and use of such products.

During the webinar, DTI Isabela Consumer Protection Division Chief Elmer A. Agorto reminded the retailers that the event aimed to promote compliance with the law among them. He pledged DTI’s support in conducting more information drives to educate more retailers about the law.

DTI Region 02 Consumer Protection Division Officer-in-Charge Atty. Michael B. Pagabbao emphasized that the law’s main purpose is to promote a clean and safe environment for everyone. He also highlighted that DTI would continue its efforts and partner with retailers to advocate ethical business practices and compliance with trade laws.

The webinar was the first to be conducted in Region 2 and was attended by a total of 57 participants, consisting of vape retailers and representatives from Local Government Units.
