The government through the Department of Trade and Industry continue to support the development of the bamboo industry in the region. In 2016, the DTI Regional Office III (DTI-3) has implemented different programs to enhance the productivity and income of different bamboo stakeholders like growers, furniture makers and traders. Among the programs implemented for bamboo development are technology trainings on engineered bamboo, novelty item making, support in marketing and promotion of bamboo products and the provision of Shared Service Facilities for the processing of bamboo.

As of December 2016, DTI-3 has already provided a total of Php 14.9 Million worth of SSF equipment for the production of engineered bamboo products for nine (9) cooperators from Aurora, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga and Zambales. The agency has also brought bamboo products from Central Luzon bamboo makers to showcase them in trade fairs and exhibits like the Manila FAME trade fair at the World Trade Center, the OTOP Center in Makati, Likha ng Central Luzon in Glorietta, Makati and in the Kanadiwan Festival Fair in Ilocos Sur.

The bamboo industry is one of the priority industry clusters for assistance by the DTI. Bamboo products promise to be a key export potential as Asian countries lead in the production and export of engineered products.
