A total of 18,692 existing and potential entrepreneurs benefitted from the SME Roving Academy (SMERA) capability building program of the Department of Trade and Industry in Central Luzon in 2016.

In a report provided by the SME Development Division of DTI Regional Office III (DTI-3), there were 378 SMERA sessions conducted by the seven (7) provincial offices and 29 Negosyo Centers in Central Luzon in 2016. DTI Nueva Ecija had 54 training sessions conducted with 3,679 participants, DTI Bulacan had 61 sessions with 2,851 attendees, while DTI Pampanga had 49 sessions with 3,437 participants. DTI Tarlac conducted 84 training sessions with 3,560 participants, DTI Zambales held 55 sessions with 1,702 participants, while DTI Bataan had 55 sessions with 2,344 participants. DTI Aurora had 20 SMERA sessions in seven (7) of its eight (8) towns, with 1,119 participants.

 DTI Trainings in Central LuzonA seminar on Financial Literacy was recently conducted by DTI Pampanga under the SME Roving Academy program in San Fernando, Pampanga.

For 2017, DTI-3 plans to conduct a total of 365 SMERA sessions, where Aurora will have 25 sessions, Bataan will have 50 sessions, Bulacan will have 60 sessions while Nueva Ecija will have 65 training sessions. Pampanga will be conducting 50 sessions while Tarlac will have 75 sessions and Zambales will have 40 sessions.

To support the growth and competitiveness of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises, DTI provides capability building sessions in the SMERA program by training them on areas like Product Development, Visual Merchandising, Food Labeling and Food

Safety, Money and Cash Flow Management, Financing Forum, Taxation, Good Manufacturing Practices, Bar Coding, Business Ethics and Accounting.

Entrepreneurs who are interested to participate in the training sessions under SMERA may go to their nearest DTI provincial office and Negosyo Centers to inquire on how to participate in the said trainings. Under Republic Act No. 10644, one of the functions of Negosyo Centers is to provide capability building programs for existing and potential entrepreneurs.
