Relative to the earthquake swarm happened earlier of April this year in Batangas, Undersecretary Ricardo B. Jalad, Executive Director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and Administrator of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), instructed the OCD – IVA Regional Office to gather the agencies concerned to conduct Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) in Batangas City, Mabini, and Tingloy, Batangas.

The Department of Trade and Industry IV-A participated in the conduct of PDNA Mission on May 2 – 6, 2017 in the province of Batangas. DTI is the lead agency for the Productive Sector and in-charge of assessing the impacts of calamities on business establishments as they fall under the industry, trade, and service sectors.

PDNA is a multi-sectoral and multidisciplinary structured approach for assessing disaster impacts and prioritizing recovery and reconstruction needs. This is intended to estimate the damages and losses, assess the human recovery needs, establish a recovery and reconstruction framework, and determine the financial requirements of programs and projects to achieve overall post-disaster recovery, reconstruction, and risk management.
