Kapatid Mentor ME launching in Rizal

The Department of Trade and Industry, in partnership with the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE), launched the “KAPATID Mentor Me Program (KMME)” in the province of Rizal at the Atrium Robinson’s Place, Antipolo City, Rizal on 01 June 2017.

Rizal is the third province in CALABARZON to roll-out the KMME this year after the successful kick-off in Quezon and Batangas last April and May.

“We would like to congratulate DTI for having another notable program such as Mentor me. The KAPATID Mentor ME is an initiative toward strengthening the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector. This is one worth undertaking, which showcases the best of our people. This is people helping people,” said Rizal Vice-Governor Reynaldo San Juan, Jr.

Mentor Me, one of the components of the Project KAPATID, aims to help the micro and small entrepreneurs scale up their enterprises, spur economic activity, and generate employment opportunities. The program brings together experts and industry leaders who will provide a series of free mentoring sessions on aspects of entrepreneurship.

“Let’s take advantage of today’s program (KAPATID Mentor ME). Let’s get as much information as we can. Let’s be inspired. Let’s have that energy to level-up our products and our business,” encouraged DTI CALABARZON Director Marilou Toledo.

The Mentor Me in Rizal is expected to run from June to August. The remaining 10 modules will be about product development, operations management, accounting, taxation, finance, obligations and contracts, human resource management, supply and value chain, succession planning, and business plan development.

“The mentees were not handpicked; they undertook a certain process of selection. Our business counselors from different Negosyo Centers selected and nominated some potential mentees. Then, these potential mentees underwent a rigid interview by the Provincial Director,” said DTI Rizal Director Mercedes Parreno.

The event was attended by the Municipal Councilors of Antipolo City, Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Interior and Local Government, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry-Rizal, Rizal Exporters and Manufacturers Association, Inc. (REMAI), Samahan ng mga Rizalenyo sa Sektor ng Agrikultura at Pagkain (SARAP), among others.

Cavite will soon roll-out its Mentor Me Program on June 28.
