The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Quezon in partnership with the Local Government of Tagkawayan, Quezon conducted the Sectoral Development and Consultative Meeting of Handicraft Makers of Tagkawayan, Quezon at Tagkawayan Municipal Covered Court, Brgy. Poblacion, Tagkawayan, Quezon last 17-19 March 2021. This is the second part of the five-day activity for handicraft makers of Tagkawayan, Quezon.
The activity was a five-day training composed of two parts which was scheduled on 15-16 March 2021 and 17-19 March 2021. The first two days tackled topics on entrepreneurship mind setting, marketing and organizational development, whereas the remaining three-day seminar was the consultative meeting with Designer for the enhancement of products of Tagkawayan handicraft makers.
This activity aims to enhance the participants’ basic skill in weaving, and know the latest methods and techniques in preserving and enhancing their products made from the various raw materials available in Tagkawayan.
The resource person during the three-day enhancement training session was Mr. Ramonito C. Bernales, designer and owner of Martha’s Handicraft, along with other weaver mentors, Mr. Edilberto Sales, and Mr. Romeo Diasanta.
On 17 March 2021, Handicraft Industry Cluster Development Account Officer Ma. Graciela C. Ledesma of DTI Quezon visited the said training. She gave an inspirational message in behalf of Provincial Director Julieta L. Tadiosa to all the participants, guests and local government unit (LGU) staff. Also, Mrs. Rosalie H. Eleazar, wife of Philippine National Police (PNP) Officer in Charge PLTGen. Guillermo T. Eleazar, Mrs. Rachel Abraham-Eleazar, wife of Municipal Mayor Luis Oscar T. Eleazar, and Mrs. Marjo Bondoc, SI Kabayan, delivered their message of encouragement and support to the participants.
Right after the enhancement training, a Mini Trade Fair was conducted which showcased the participants’ finished products last 19 March 2021, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. ♦
