To enhance competitiveness of the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through improved packaging and design, the Department of Trade and Industry Region 4-A, through the initiative of the DTI Office of the Secretary, will be mounting the Pack! Pinas Panalong Packaging para sa Lahat on 29-30 May 2018 at the San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite. This will be the last pilot run of the packaging roadshow for this month for Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, having successfully launched the Pack! Pinas leg in Region 8 on 3-4 May and in Region 10 on 16-17 May.

DTI recognizes that MSMEs lack access to affordable and well-designed packaging materials for their products. In addition, MSMEs are not up to date with the latest trends in packaging and may be hampered by the limited options available. In response to these growing concerns coupled with DTI Secretary Ramon M. Lopez’s vision to create an innovative ecosystem among businesses in the Philippines, DTI will pilot a Suppliers Trade Fair in the region to support the packaging needs of our MSMEs.

The Packaging Trade Fair will gather relevant stakeholders (MSMEs, packaging suppliers, technical experts, etc.) to develop distribution and sales channels in the region, facilitate business matching, conduct product development clinics, and provide MSMEs with wider packaging options.

“We see packaging as one of the tools to improve competitiveness and innovation. We have come up with this packaging trade fair to help our MSMEs develop their products to be able to meet their clients’ standards and regulations, at the same time, penetrate the mainstream markets,” said DTI CALABARZON Director Marilou Q. Toledo.

The trade fair is organized and supported by the MSME Development Council, Design Center of the Philippines, Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions, Philippine Trade Training Center, Department of Science and Technology-Industrial Technology Development Institute, Food and Drug Administration, Packaging Institute of the Philippines, Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of the Philippines, Fedrigoni Asia Ltd., MGM Food and Commodities Corporation, Norde Philippines, and San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corporation (SMYPC).♦
