Nineteen entrepreneurs in Albay graduated after a 12-week mentoring program under DTI’s ‘Kapatid Mentor ME’ (KMME).

These graduates were provided by the mentors with a number of helpful tips on the different functional areas of entrepreneurship, such as entrepreneurial mind setting and values formation, marketing management, operations management, human resource management, entrepreneurial accounting and financial management, taxation, and business law, among others.  This is one of the government’s strategies to boost economic activity focusing on the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as they push the economy to greater heights.

Mentees were required to come up with their Business Improvement Plan (BIP) and presented the same in front of a panel for critiquing.  Graduation ceremony followed immediately after the presentation and critiquing of plans are done.

DTI-Bicol Regional Director RD Jocelyn L.B. Blanco yesterday in her inspirational message challenged the graduates to ‘go global’, especially now that tariffs are reduced. Further, she told them to explore the digital world, as well.  RD Blanco thanked the graduates for trusting DTI al through the years.

DTI-Albay Provincial Director Rodrigo M. Aguilar in his closing message, thanked the graduates and the DTI-Albay team for the successful implementation of KMME in the province of Albay.  Interestingly, because of the graduates’ positive response, a second batch is soon to commence by July.

With this capacity building program for MSMEs, DTI believes to bring in improved productivity for entrepreneurs, increased value-adding activities and innovative ideas, and more employment opportunities in the countryside.
