DTI Secretary Ramon M. Lopez leads the opening of the ‘Bagong Buhay Boracay’ Store at the DTI Bureau of Domestic Trade and Promotions (BDTP) Showroom – West Wing in Makati on May 31, 2018. The project aims to help MSMEs in the Province of Aklan access new markets for their products outside the province, due to the huge market impact on the closure of Boracay Island to foreign and local tourists, alike. The ‘Bagong Buhay Boracay’ Store features food products, wearables, fashion accessories, home decor, and other souvenir items from at least 21 MSME-exhibitors with 150 suppliers/sub-contractors affected by the temporary closure of Boracay Island. Other products of affected MSMEs engaged in arts and crafts will also be featured during the SIKAT PINOY National Arts and Crafts Fair (NACF) at SM Megamall on June 14 to 17. In his message, Secretary Lopez said, “It is the way of the DTI to be the enabler. We can say na hindi dito magtatapos kahit na magbukas na ang Boracay. This will be a continuing project and effort to support in innovating the product and marketing the product.”♦
