Some 49 additional shared service facilities (SSF) will be established this year to enhance the needs of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the region, with the Province of Antique getting the lion’s share of the project with 33 SSFs.

The Province of Aklan has proposed five (5) SSFs to be established; Capiz with one (1) SSF; Guimaras with two (2) facilities; Iloilo with six (6) facilities; and, Negros Occidental proposed to establish two (2) facilities.

These facilities aims to improve production and output in the priority industry clusters of cacao, coffee, coco coir, processed foods, bamboo, wearables and homestyle, and gifts, decors and housewares.

These facilities also included programs on weaving, pottery, dairy and horticulture industries.

DTI VI OIC Regional Director Rebecca M. Rascon said the establishment of these facilities in the communities would greatly improve the production and market linkage of cooperators and MSMEs.

The DTI VI will be partnering with cooperatives, civil society organizations, local government units, state universities and colleges, as cooperators of the SSFs to ensure that these facilities are well taken-cared of and that it will be used for its purpose.♦
