DTI Undersecretary for Regional Operations Group Zenaida C. Maglaya echoed the directive of Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon M. Lopez to strengthen the government support system to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Maglaya reiterated the seven M’s (7Ms) of Secretary Lopez to enhance the productivity and profitability of MSMEs to be able to survive and compete in the market, in the recently concluded 1st Quarter Management Review of DTI VI in Kalibo, Aklan.

DTI VI OIC-Regional Director Rebecca M. Rascon, provincial directors, division chiefs and employees were present during the management review, a periodic assessment to ensure that the programs and projects of the agency are fully implemented at the regional level.

The DTI, Maglaya said, must assist MSMEs develop the right entrepreneurial Mindset and Mastery in order to succeed in their undertaking. Also, entrepreneurs must “listen” to what the Market is willing to buy in developing their respective products and/or services.

Money, by providing for access to finance for capital building, especially with the introduction of the “Pondo Para sa Pagbabago at Pag-Asenso” (P3). The P3 may only be available to existing businesses for now, she said.

Machines, in terms of providing upgraded and more modern production facilities to improve the products of MSMEs. An example of this endeavor is DTI’s Shared Service Facilities (SSFs) program.

Aside from the regular training programs for MSMEs, Mentoring is likewise important through ‘coaching’ services undertaken by Negosyo Centers; and, nurture MSMEs by making available to them successful business Models.
