With the target to increase global participation of PH construction industry players, the Department of Trade and Industry takes advantage of its chairmanship to the ASEAN’s 50th founding anniversary to conduct the ASEAN+6 Construction Forum on October 25 2017 at Solaire Hotel Resort, Paranaque City.

This will be participated in by the ASEAN Member States delegates, guests from our Dialogue Partners (China, South Korea, Japan, India, Australia, New Zealand), local and foreign presenters and moderators, Philippine delegates and local guests from the public and private construction sector, and VIPs.

Through the collaboration of the Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines (CIAP) under the DTI and the ASEAN Committee on Business and Investment Promotion (CBIP) of the ASEAN National Organizing Council, the ASEAN+6 Construction Forum was born out of the mutual interest of movers and shakers in the ASEAN construction industry to ramp up infrastructure development in the region.

Initially a Philippine Overseas Construction Symposium conceptualized by the Philippine Overseas Construction Board (POCB), a CIAP implementing board, DTI Competitiveness and Ease of Doing Business (CEODBG) Undersecretary Ruth B. Castelo believes that the ASEAN+6 Construction Forum would be a more fitting development platform as ASEAN becomes a major player in the international community which generated enormous opportunities in the form of a huge market worth over US$2.5 trillion.

The ASEAN+6 Construction Forum will focus on four panel discussions: ASEAN Blueprint, Bolting Together, The Mobilizers and Pioneering Innovation, all of which are poised to substantiate global construction initiatives.

The forum aims to proactively engage stakeholders by cultivating relationships and identifying mechanisms to regularly and effectively communicate updates on the progress of the implementation of the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity (MPAC) 2025, coordinate existing resources with the end in view of delivering support across the full life cycle of infrastructure projects to ensure sustainable infrastructure, and address the need for infrastructure spending to more than double from levels prior to the 1987 global financial crisis.

“We believe that this activity will serve as an avenue for identifying business opportunities and sharing of best practices from the participating countries, which we hope will lead to a successful networking and business matching among the construction industry players in the ASEAN.” said Undersecretary Castelo.
