In celebration of the National Exporters’ Week (NEW), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), together with the Export Development Council (EDC) and Philippine Exporters Confederation Inc. (Philexport), bestowed the Top Exporter Awards to deserving exporters based on their 2019 export performance and to those who have exhibited excellence and innovation in the delivery of services. Awards were presented at the first-ever one-day virtual National Export Congress (NEC) on Thursday, December 3, 2020, via Zoom.

Anchored on this year’s theme of the NEW: “Digitalization Boost: Invigorating Exports in the New Normal,” the NEC aims to promote the culture of innovation and collaboration to increase exports, while navigating challenges and opportunities in the new normal.

The recognition aims to feature Philippine exporters who have remained competitive and continue to contribute to the country’s export revenues. This was created by DTI to acknowledge exporters’ resiliency despite the challenges they face and as a testimony to the strong partnership between the government and the private sector in pursuit of the country’s inclusive and sustainable export development.

Distinct from other industry awards, the Top Exporters Award is designed to educate, motivate, encourage excellence, and inspire the whole exporting community. It is also to recognize the high-performing company’s significant export performance. The recognition serves to rekindle the collective exporters’ spirit with their commendable determination to compete and prevail.

The Top Exporter Award is given to companies which have achieved the highest value of a one year (2019) stellar record of export revenue performance, including the export performance for the last two  consecutive years from their respective sectors based on data provided by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). They have significantly contributed to the export performance of the country, working together with Philippine small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and remaining committed as major partners for the creation of jobs and investments in the Philippines.

The Most Outstanding RIPPLES Plus Award is given to SMEs to honor their outstanding international success in penetrating global markets. It is given to three companies; one each from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Companies who showed a strong commitment to national growth and economic development through competitive Philippine exports based on the companies’ export transactions for 2019 provided by the PSA get the award.

The RIPPLES Plus Program is one of  DTI’s handholding programs for SMEs that have worked toward increasing the number of internationally competitive local products and services exporters with the DTI’s Export Marketing Bureau (EMB) at the helm.

Aside from having been able to fulfill basic requirements as bonafide enrollees in the program, the RIPPLES Plus enrollee winners from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao have exhibited significant impact in terms of export sales and jobs generated as a result of the package of assistance received from DTI-EMB.

Moreover, the Excellence Award for Services Exports is given to services companies that have shown an exemplary contribution to the industry and exhibited excellence in their respective fields. These service exporters started small but have excelled in overseas market penetration and executed outstanding performance and contribution as industry players as follows: Animation Services, Franchising Services, Healthcare Information Management  Services, IT-BPM Services (Knowledge Process Outsourcing), and IT Services (Software Development).

Furthermore, the Hall of Fame Award honors exporters with the highest export revenues in the last three (3) consecutive years in their respective sectors based on PSA data.
