THE Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) will lead the country’s 30th Coconut Week Celebration to coincide with the Third International Coconut Festival on August 18 to 21 at the SM Megamall.

With the theme “Coco Farm Productivity, Answer to Poverty,” the event aims to converge industry stakeholders to explore opportunities and address the challenges through cooperation among industry players and enablers.

The celebration is a venue to showcase technologies and best practices that would promote coconut productivity and increase material base for the production of value-added export  products, such as coconut water, activated carbon, coco coir and coconut oil.

Celebrity endorsers, including Ryzza Mae Dizon and Chef Boy Logro, will showcase cooking demonstrations using coconut. Food and coconut-wine tasting will also be a highlight, among other activities.

Seminars on various topics, like market access and global market trends, including training on virgin-coconut oil for Asean members, are part of the four-day event. Cocoweek is celebrated every August as mandated by Proclamation 142, Series 1987, signed by the late President Corazon C. Aquino in 1987.  It also serves as a tribute to the coconut as the “Tree of Life.”□
