The Department of Trade and Industry joins the second ASEAN Online Sale Day (AOSD) on 8-10 August 2021 to provide Filipino consumers the access to a wide range of products from the member countries of the Association Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) that include Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

The first AOSD was successfully held in August 2020 and promoted cross-border trade among ASEAN members through e-commerce. It strengthened collaboration among the ASEAN national governments, businesses and consumers, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The Philippines, through the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) participated in the first AOSD and partnered with the Philippine Franchise Association (PFA), Philippine Retailers Association (PRA), and UnionBank GlobalLinker.

The three-day AOSD this year, led by the ASEAN Coordinating Committee on E-Commerce (ACCEC), will offer a variety of goods and services at discounted prices from the participating ASEAN countries.

“The DTI is excited for the Filipino consumers and encourages them to participate in this important program of the ASEAN on 8-10 August 2021.  The Department also reminds them to exercise their rights to information and choice. They must exercise the same vigilance when shopping online to get their money’s worth,” says DTI Undersecretary for Consumer Protection Group Atty. Ruth B. Castelo.

The DTI likewise urges the public to support the Philippine micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by purchasing from them during the AOSD.

On 8 August 2021, the ACCEC will officially launch the AOSD webpage, which will feature the logos and hyperlinks of participating businesses and marketplaces. Interested companies and sellers may visit the AOSD frequently asked questions page to know more about the event.

The 2021 AOSD is conducted to observe the ASEAN’s 54th anniversary celebration. To join the 2021 AOSD, visit the AOSD page or www.onlineasean.com.
