On April 26, The Philippine Chamber of Commerce Industry – Makati (PCCI-Makati) will formalize an agreement with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) aimed at advancing the promotion and development of the Philippine Halal Industry, ultimately resulting in the establishment of a Halal hub in Makati City.

The Memorandum of Understanding specifies that DTI and PCCI – Makati will collaborate with governmental bodies, organizations, and private stakeholders to develop, execute, and oversee initiatives and projects associated with establishing the Halal Hub.

Functioning as an ecosystem, the hub will act as a central platform that will facilitate connections between Halal manufacturers, traders, buyers, and consumers. Furthermore, it strives to enhance the promotion and distribution of Halal products and services within Makati City, catering to the needs of both Muslim and non-Muslim consumers.

This joint effort also seeks to aid businesses in Makati in expanding their operations by tapping into global Halal opportunities, while simultaneously offering pathways for them to enhance their global competitiveness.

The MoU signing is scheduled to take place during PCCI Makati’s 2nd general membership meeting and the induction of new members at the Makati Diamond Residences. The signatories will be DTI Secretary Fred Pascual and PCCI Makati President Toots Cortez. Additionally, Mr. Aleem Guiapal, DTI’s Program Manager for Halal Industry Development, will deliver a speech focusing on opportunities within the global market for the Philippine Halal ecosystem.

PCCI Makati is a Trade and Investment Promotion Partner of DTI in supporting the promotion of local and foreign direct investment and facilitating trade inflows into the Makati region. The Halal Initiatives are spearheaded by the PCCI-Makati Halal Committee led by its Vice President Ruby Bañares-Victorino. ♦
