The Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Brussels attended the launching of Xinyx Design’s branch in the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, The Netherlands on 20 October 2022.

Xinyx Design, an Integrated Circuit (IC) design company headquartered in Alabang, Muntinlupa and headed by its General Manager, Charade Avondo started in 2007 with six (6) employees. The company has grown to 348 employees with a branch in Cagayan de Oro and now in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

Ms. Avondo targeted to set up a base in Europe where Xinyx can provide engineering services directly to European companies. Xinyx was able to establish a space within the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven where multinationals such as Philips, NXP, Intel and SME high tech companies, research institutes, service companies and startups work together to grow the tech industry in The Netherlands. Eindhoven is also considered as the “Silicon Valley of Europe.”

The goal of establishing a physical presence in The Netherlands is to tap companies in The Netherlands and Europe who need IC design services and to directly provide Philippine engineering services to these companies. However, Xinyx faces challenges of competing with multinational companies in hiring more talented Filipino engineers and bringing them to The Netherlands. Ms. Avondo said that a closer collaboration among Philippine technical schools, colleges, universities and the industry is highly recommended to address the shortfall.

Ms. Charade Avondo, General Manager of Xinyx design seated next to Ms. Agnes Oh, lead for Training & Development of Xinyx Design with the Xinyx design team, PTIC Brussels Christine Barawid, Philippine Embassy The Hague’s Consul Nomer Ado and Consul General Lolit Capco

Prior to the launch, Commercial Counsellor Magnolia Misolas-Ashley had a virtual meeting with Ms. Avondo to discuss how to maximize the Xinyx’s presence in the Netherlands and to gain foothold of the Dutch IC design, and semiconductor sector. PTIC Brussels will continue to support the growth of the company in The Netherlands and feature them in the forthcoming business forum.
