The Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Hong Kong SAR is excited to invite you to join the webinar entitled “Trade and RCEP: Scaling Up ASEAN Trade Collaboration” together with Asia Society Hong Kong Center and the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong on 21 October (Thu) at 09:00AM.

The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) covers nearly 30% of the population, making it the largest free trade partnership. RCEP lowers tariffs and cuts its members’ red tape thereby promoting trade flow in the region. RCEP further enhances the participation of manufacturing, investments, and raw materials trading among other activities. In the recovery of the economy during COVID-19, trade continues to play a key role in preparing the economy to bounce back. Hong Kong itself has close economic ties with RCEP members, including ASEAN, Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand. But what is the future of its regional trade relations?

On the regional level, RCEP reinforces countries’ relations and connects policymakers on the international stage. The Reimagining the Future series aim to shed light on the future of Hong Kong and global development and to promote interactions between government officials from different countries. This program will focus on the future of RCEP and the role of Hong Kong in the ASEAN network.

A panel discussion on this topic will be presented by Atty. Allan B. Gepty, the Assistant Secretary for Industry Development and Trade Policy at the Department of Trade and Industry Philippines and Mr. Brian Lo, Director-General of Trade and Industry Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China. The discussion will be moderated by Ms. Angie Lau, Editor-in-Chief, CEO, and Founder of Forkast.News.
