Hong Kong, 4 September 2022 – The Philippines, represented by Vice Consul (Commercial) and Commercial Attaché, Atty. Roberto B. Mabalot, Jr. of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center’s (PTIC-HK) joined the Belt and Global Forum. Vice Consul Mabalot discussed how enterprises in the Philippines overcome challenges and risks caused by geopolitical and global economic tsunami in the forum held recently in Hong Kong.

Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), this year’s forum is themed “Charting Sustainable and Robust Path to Opportunities in a New Era.”

In the forum, Commercial Attaché, Atty. Roberto B. Mabalot, Jr. tackled the importance of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership and the Belt and Road to help mitigate risks and possible challenges that will be experienced in the Region. Moreover, he cited the fact that increasingly complex global economic environment which has caused supply chain risk, can be reduced by redirecting manufacturing operations within the Region. He also highlighted the Philippines as a location for reshoring of manufacturing operations.

Moderated by Mr. Andrew Weir, Chairman of the Belt and Road Global Forum Annual Roundtable and Belt and Road & Greater Bay Area Committee Member of the HKTDC, the Forum was divided into three parts wherein green development trends along the belt and road were discussed, as well as how enterprises build supply chain resilience amid global disruption and ways to mitigate risk for the new normal.

The exclusive Forum is one of the signature annual events in Hong Kong composed of 110 government officials and delegates from multinational companies.  The Forum aims to establish a platform gathering Hong Kong, Mainland China, and international organizations and associations to share information, interact, and explore business collaborations under the Belt and Road Initiative through Hong Kong.
