Following the successful Philippine Investment Forum last year, the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Kuala Lumpur (PTIC-KL) and the Philippine Embassy in Malaysia, are once again encouraging Malaysian companies to invest and expand their business in the Philippines.

This year, the Invest in Philippines 2022 Forum was held on 31 May 2022, with the theme, “Driving Foreign Direct Investment into the Philippines Post COVID‐19”. It aimed to promote the Philippines as an ideal investment destination post-pandemic owing to its large consumer market and business-friendly landscape.

In cooperation with the PTIC-KL and the Philippine Embassy in Malaysia, the event was organized by the Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MCCI), Philippines in partnership with Paddy Schubert Consultants Sdn. Bhd. The speakers were MCCI’s Chairman and Co-founder, Mr. Edward Ling, BDO Unibank’s First Vice President and Chief Market Strategist, Mr. Jonathan Ravelas, PTIC-KL’s Commercial Attaché Norjamin Delos Reyes, and Global Satellite’s President and CEO, Mr. Philip Chien.

Chargé d’affaires, a.i., Leandro Luiz Manantan, delivered a welcome message on behalf of the Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia, H.E. Charles C. Jose. In his speech, he highlighted the strong business and economic ties between the Philippines and Malaysia and encouraged building deeper cooperation between the two countries in key areas of partnership and fostering investment opportunities that have yet to be explored.

Commercial Attaché Delos Reyes presented the benefits of investing in the Philippines which focused on the recently approved Strategic Investment Priority Plan (SIPP) and four (4) comprehensive tax reform programs, the Republic Act No. 11534: Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises (CREATE) Act, Republic Act No. 11647: Amendment to the Foreign Investments Act of 1991 (FIA), Republic Act No. 11595: An Act Amending the Retail Trade Liberalization Act of 2000 (R.A. 8762) (RTLA) and Republic Act No. 11659: Public Service Act (PSA). The forum was attended by over forty (40) representatives, existing and potential investors in various industries including manufacturing, technology, real estate, tourism, logistics, consumer goods, halal food, and retail.
