The Philippines participated in the Marche International des Programmes de Communication (MIPCOM) last October 17-18 per DTI MO 16-3031 dated 12 October 2016.

The MIPCOM which ran from October 17-20 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes is an annual global entertainment content event that cuts across platforms including TV, film, web-based or simulated voice on demand (SVOD), live action or animation, which brought together major acquisition executives, production studios and producers with the objective of finding the right partners for their latest projects. Attendees for the 2016 event set a new record with an estimated 2000 booth exhibitors in compact spaces and 14,000 participants out of which 4900 were registered as buyers including 1500 acquisition executives. The delegates came from around 108 countries.

This year’s booth participation is the first by the Philippines and was spearheaded by the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc (ACPI) with booth funding support provided by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and business matching and logistics support provided by the Department of Trade and Industry’s Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB) and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Paris (PTIC-Paris), and the Philippine Embassy in Paris.

Seven (7) Philippine entities were housed under the Philippine booth which measured 13 square meters, namely: ASI Media, Renderbee, Synergee88, TeamApp, Toon City, Toon City Academy and ACPI. (Please see attached tabular summary of the companies and their capabilities).
