On March 09, 2022, the DTI-Philippine Accreditation Bureau (DTI-PAB) and the Department of Agriculture (DA) held a virtual meeting to deepen their partnership in recognizing the importance of collaboration among government agencies for better service delivery.

Both agencies presented an overview of their respective accreditation and conformity assessment services, and agreed to draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that could help their clientele better comply with regulations and improve their services. The specific collaboration will be discussed in detail during the proposed writeshop activity.

DTI-Competitiveness and Innovation Group (CIG) Undersecretary Rafaelita M. Aldaba, and DTI-PAB Dir. Empeño led the meeting which was also attended by other DTI-PAB officials. On the other hand, DA representatives, Engr. Syed Alireza Ampatuan, Engr. Jodiv Malicsi, and Mr. Luis Bibal attended the meeting on behalf of Undersecretary Zamzamin Ampatuan. Other key officials of DA from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI), National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS), and Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) also joined the meeting.

DTI-PAB continues to work with various government and regulatory agencies to promote accreditation and encourage them to use it to deliver better regulation, environmental protection, and public safety.

According to PAB Director James E. Empeño, better regulation is built on a competent, unbiased, and effective system in which governments, businesses, and consumers all play a role in sustaining trust.
