With the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), the Department of Trade and Industry – Philippine Accreditation Bureau (DTI-PAB) is committed to cooperate in the field of accreditation of Verification Bodies (VBs) and verification activities applicable to Aeroplane Operators (AOs) in the Philippines.

On December 13, 2022, PAB formally awarded the accreditation certificate of TÜV SÜD PSB Philippines Inc. — the first PAB-accredited Verification Body in the country.

After hurdling the rigorous process of assessment, the TÜV SÜD PSB Philippines Inc. has been granted with accreditation for the following scope: International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) International Standard and Recommend Practice, Annex 16, Volume IV – Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation – Standards and Recommend Practices (SARPs); The Environmental Technical Manual (Doc 9501), Volume IV Procedures for demonstrating compliance with the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA).

The accreditation scheme for Validation and Verification Bodies evaluates the technical competence, consistency, and impartiality of person certification bodies, based on the general requirements of ISO/IEC 14065, applicable certification scheme requirements, and applicable IAF mandatory documents.

Having an accredited local Verification Body in this field will help our local AOs develop a sustainable carbon reduction plan and strategy and comply with international standards.
