PAB’s Submission to IAF and ILAC Communications Committees.
Conceptualized by Ms. Japhet T. Celis.

The Philippine Accreditation Bureau (PAB) secured the second spot out of 28 submissions from various accreditation bodies on the recently concluded contest organized by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) for poster category. PAB was only 2 votes away from the winning entry.

The challenge in the contest is to make a visually appetizing content, while remaining faithful to the theme, “Accreditation: Supporting the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).” It means that submissions should clearly illustrate how accreditation and accredited conformity assessment services support the implementation of SDGs. PAB’s entry was conceptualized by Ms. Japhet T. Celis to convey the significant role of accreditation as a supporting tool in achieving these goals.

The contest ran from 18 February 2021 to 15 March 2021 and was open for IAF and ILAC member organizations and their staff who are over 18 years old; except for directors, executives, secretariat staff and officers of the organizers, their respective spouses, parents, siblings, and children.

Apart from the recognition received from the IAF and ILAC Communications Committees and the ILAC/IAF Joint Communication Professionals, Ms. Celis, who submitted the entry on behalf of PAB, will receive a cash prize and will be featured in the promotion of the competition.

The selection process was done through online voting on 23 March 2021 (8:00 – 11:00 UTC) and 25 March 2021 (15:00 – 18:00 UTC) during the ILAC/IAF Joint Working Group Communications (JWGC) Meeting – a meeting composed of marketing professionals coming from different accreditation bodies of various economies.

The contest was held to develop the official poster and video for the World Accreditation Day 2021. WAD is celebrated every June 9 by IAF, ILAC, their members and partners, and stakeholders in the conformity assessment community in acknowledgement of the benefits and value of accreditation.

This year, it will highlight how accreditation and accredited conformity assessment activities support the implementation of the SDGs adopted by United Nations member states as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The 17 identified SDGs are: No Poverty; Zero Hunger; Good Health and Well-being; Quality Education; Gender Equality; Clean Water and Sanitation; Affordable and Clean Energy; Decent Work and Economic Growth; Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; Reducing Inequality; Sustainable Cities and Communities; Responsible Consumption and Production; Climate Action; Life Below Water; Life On Land; Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions; and Partnerships for the Goals.

PAB is yet to decide which of these SGDs will be featured in its World Accreditation Day 2021 celebration.
