The Department of Trade and Industry – Philippine Accreditation Bureau (DTI-PAB) formally awarded the Certificate of Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17043:2010 to the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Food and Nutrition Research Institute – Proficiency Testing Laboratory (FNRI-PTL) during the Asia-Pacific Food Analysis Network (APFAN) International Workshop on Laboratory Quality Standards Towards Global Competitiveness on May 25, 2023, held at Acacia Hotel, Alabang, Muntinlupa.

PAB Director James Empeño, together with the Head of the Laboratory Accreditation Division, Michelle Esteban, awarded the certificate which signifies competence and confidence in the operation of PT providers. FNRI-PTL has been assessed and found conforming to the requirements of PNS ISO/IEC 17043:2010 in the field of Proficiency Testing Provider (Chemical).

ISO/IEC 17043:2010 is an international standard that specifies the general requirements for the competence of providers of proficiency testing schemes and for the development and operation of proficiency testing schemes.

Accreditation is granted to FNRI-PTL to provide proficiency testing programs for Milk Powder, Corn-based Snack Food, and Fruit Drink, among others. The accreditation is valid until May 02, 2028, subject to continuing conformity with the criteria and PAB conditions for accreditation.

FNRI-PTL is committed to organizing and providing quality proficiency testing (PT) services at a reasonable cost to meet the customer needs and augment the high demand for proficiency testing in the laboratory.

Being the first PAB-accredited PT provider ensures clients with increased confidence that the PT programs they offer are being operated competently, following the specified technical and management system requirements.
