The Department of Trade and Industry – Philippine Accreditation Bureau (DTI-PAB) joins the nation in celebrating the Philippine Tropical Fabrics Month. This celebration is led by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI), one of PAB-accredited testing laboratories on ISO/IEC 17025 (Chemical and Mechanical Testing for Textile and Related Products).

With this year’s theme, “Pushing Boundaries for Sustainable, Competitive, and Inclusive Philippine Textile-Garment Industry,” DOST-PTRI celebrates key milestones. They will also launch innovation hubs and raise awareness in using and developing Philippine textiles, local natural resources, and mainstream developed textile solutions and technologies, among others.

Here are the activities that you may watch for this January 2023:

The Philippine Tropical Fabrics (PTF) Month is an event institutionalized under Proclamation No. 313 issued in 2012. As stated in the proclamation, “The PTRI-DOST shall also ensure that extensive research on the judicious utilization of local natural fibers shall be continued and that meaningful activities to properly celebrate the “Philippine Tropical Fabrics Month” shall be undertaken toward sustained development of the textile industry.”
