Ladies and gentlemen,

A pleasant day to all of you.

It is not every day that we see the faces of individuals dedicated to their mission of building a better Philippines through nutrition. Combating malnutrition complements President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to achieve food security in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – poverty reduction and hunger mitigation.

I am honor and privilege to announce the remarkable contenders for the 2023 National Outstanding Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Award. This prestigious award honors individuals who have displayed extraordinary dedication and leadership in nutrition, making significant contributions to the overall well-being of their communities.

Here are the nominees for the 2023 National Outstanding Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Award:

  • Dr. Anna Maria Teresa S. De Guzman of Pangasinan in Region 1;
  • Ms. Cynthia M. Palileo of Samar Province in Eastern Visayas Region;
  • Dr. Alfredo A. Lacerona of the Province of Davao del Norte in Region 11;
  • Mr. Rudy S. Jimenea of the Province of South Cotabato in Region 12 – SOCCSKARGEN; and,
  • Ms. Laniebelle T. Angchangco of Agusan del Sur, Caraga Region.

We commend these modern-day heroes for their unwavering commitment to implementing policies and programs on nutrition, let us keep in mind that the success of this endeavor needs a whole-government approach.

Investing in nutrition is tantamount to investing in sustainable social and economic development. Let us draw inspiration from the nominees, replicating their practices when we return to our respective provinces.
