Ambassador Michel Parys of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in Manila joined the meeting, along with other attendees including BOI Senior Investments Specialist Diorella Joy C. Bobis; Turbulent Hydro’s CEO Dr. Walter Buydens PhD Eng., Trade and Investment Commissioner Mia Santamaria-Abela, and Turbulent Hydro’s Chief Operating Officer Frederik Ragé.
On April 08, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Fred Pascual met with Turbulent Hydro CEO Walter J.R. Buydens during the company’s courtesy visit to the DTI. They’re eyeing the development and installation of turbines to provide reliable energy to remote villages, addressing unstable electrical grids in areas that experience frequent power outages.

Additionally, the firm intends to establish a production hub for hydro turbines, aiming to attract significant investments. This plan was previously presented to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at the 10th ASEAN-EU Business Summit in Brussels, Belgium, in December 2022.

Secretary Pascual had initially discussed these plans with Turbulent Hydro at the 28th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties in Dubai last year. Moreover, the Board of Investments has facilitated business meetings with financial institutions, steel manufacturers, and other potential partners to assist Turbulent Hydro’s week-long due diligence visit from April 7 to 13. ♦
