Livelihood Seeding Program - Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay participants in Sta.Maria, Laguna

SANTA MARIA, LAGUNA – Pursuant to the Republic Act Number 11469 also known as the Bayanihan Heal as One Act, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is tasked to conduct Livelihood Seeding Program – Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (LSP-NSB) to areas affected by COVID-19, especially the 4th to 6th class municipalities. This program serves as the government’s assistance to the main catalyst of the economy, the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Hence, the DTI Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna), through the Negosyo Center (NC) Santa Maria, in cooperation with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Santa Maria, Laguna, conducted the LSP-NSB Orientation among barangay officials and the Barangay Development Council at the Brgy. Bagumbayan Covered Court, Santa Maria, Laguna, on 10 June 2021, Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The activity was started with a prayer led by NC Business Counsellor (NCBC) Joemarie Valizado.  Then, Hon. Melanie De Chavez, the barangay captain of Bagumbayan, welcomed her fellow barangay captains, officials, and other participants from Brgy. Tungkod, Brgy. Calangay, Brgy. Pao-o, Brgy. Laurel, and Brgy. J. Santiago, as well as the other DTI and LGU personnel present.

It was then followed by an inspirational message from Provincial Director Clarke S. Nebrao.  A group photo was taken before Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist (STIDS) Christian Ted O. Tungohan and STIDS Arnel M. Magpily presented the DTI Programs and Services.  Afterward, Mr. Benson L. Sarabia Jr. of Small Business Corporation talked about the Bayanihan COVID-19 Assistance to Restart Enterprises (CARES) Program, a financing program for MSMEs. 

Furthermore, TIDS Monica Czarina F. Abarca discussed consumer education and advocacy, followed by NCBC Valizado who talked about how to start a business.

Additionally, NCBC Adrimar A. Adriano talked about what is LSP-NSB, its legal basis, objectives, procedures, target beneficiaries, and allocated budget.  The roles of DTI and partner barangays and the activity proper were also discussed. Lastly, STIDS Abigail Ezra C. Del Mundo gave the closing remarks. 

The activity was rated very satisfactory by the participants consisting of 50 barangay officials/members 15 DTI and LGU personnel; 38 male and 27 female.  NSB Desk signages were also issued to the partner barangays. ♦
