DTI-12 Conducts 4-day Virtual ACT Session for Homestyle and Wearable Entrepreneurs

KORONADAL CITY, SOUTH COTABATO – The Department of Trade and Industry Region 12 (DTI-12) has recently conducted a Virtual Assessment, Consultation and Triage (ACT) Session under its One Town, One Product Next Generation (OTOP Next Gen) program that was participated by selected thirty-seven (37) non-food micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the region last 13-16 October 2020 thru Zoom Meeting App.

Participants to the product development session were selected MSMEs across Region 12 who have their OTOP enrolled products assessed by top-notch designer-consultants Jared A. Servano and Rey Soliven.

Improved products of enrolled MSMES will be showcased in the different product promotional initiatives of DTI-12.

In his message to the participants, DTI-12 Regional Director Jude Constantine Jaugan stressed the importance of product development to be responsive to the current needs of the market, “Our end goal is to bring you customized interventions that will result to your having better products, a bigger market, and improved business operations.”

“This ACT Session allows you to share some of your design creations, learn from our consultants, and develop networks with other Homestyle and Wearable MSMEs,” said Jaugan.

Among the non-food products included in the product development sessions were modern bayong, beaded fashion and accessories, bamboo furniture, arts and crafts, and other homestyle items.

These products are expected to be launched and showcased in the upcoming Virtual Trade Fairs of DTI-Region 12.

OTOP Philippines is a priority stimulus program for MSMEs by government through different customized interventions to drive inclusive local economic growth.

The program has two major components, the OTOP Next Gen and the OTOP Philippines Hub.

OTOP Next Gen is the program’s supply side which offers package of assistance to capacitate MSMEs with the goal of leveling up their products in the areas of design, quality, volume, among others while OTOP Philippines Hub provides physical online channels and market access platform to OTOP products. The conduct of the Virtual ACT Session for Non-Food MSMEs marks the last leg of DTI-12’s ACT session for 2020 with an expected doubling of improved non-food OTOP products from the target. ♦
