DTI-CAR CONFERS BAGWIS AWARD TO 25 BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENTS

The Department of Trade and Industry-Cordillera Administrative Region (DTI-CAR) is conferring Bagwis Certificate and Seal pursuant to its Bagwis Award Program to 25 business establishments in the Region.

The DTI Bagwis Award aims to give due recognition to establishments that uphold the rights of consumers and practice responsible business where consumers indeed get value for money. It has three levels, namely the Bronze, Silver and Gold.  The Bronze Award is given to businesses that complied with the fair trade laws and has an established consumer welfare desk or an equivalent consumer relations office within their store. The Silver Award is given to businesses who have already achieved the parameters of the Bronze Award and shown qualities in social responsibility. The Gold Seal, on the other hand, is awarded to stores that achieved the requirements of the Silver Award in addition to an established quality orientation management.

The recipients of the award are as follows:

Gold Bagwis Seal – Motortrade Topline, Inc. and Motortorade Nationwide Corp. in Abra; Philippine Seven Corporation (7/11) Bakakeng, A & A Payment Center (7/11), Nel-An Convenience Store (7/11) in Baguio City; RBG Computers, Cellshop & Enterprises in Ifugao; King Square Bayle Supermart, Corporation (Main and Bakras Branches) in Kalinga;

Silver Bagwis Seal –  to Conner Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Apayao, Benguet Supermart in Baguio City; Caslangen Fertilizer Supply, Caslangen Grocer and, Caslangen Hardware in Benguet; Praj’s Pasalubong Center & General Merchandise and Equity Machineries in Kalinga; Riochico Marketing in Mountain Province; and

Bronze Bagwis Seal – Abra Diocesan Teachers & Employees Multi-Purpose Coop (Manabo and Peñarrubia Branches) in Abra; KNE General Merchandise and Cagayan Appliance Center in Apayao; JCF Electronics Repair Shop in Baguio City; Lagawe Trading and RDB Hardware and General Merchandise in Ifugao; Asting’s Minimart and Clark’s Hardware & Construction Supplies in Mountain Province.

The Bagwis Award is valid for three years from the date of conferment. On the third year, DTI will revalidate this award by reassessing the establishment with its consistency in complying with the set Bagwis Parameters.

Retail establishments such as supermarkets, department stores, specialty stores, hardware stores, appliance centers, and DTI-accredited service and repair shops are eligible for the Bagwis Award.

DTI calls for the aforesaid establishments to participate in the program to safeguard the interests of the consumers and foster fair business practices. In further support to the program, consumers are likewise encouraged to patronize establishments granted with Bagwis Award.♦
