From Baguio to the Philippines: DTI eyes KAPEtirya roll-out across regions

BAGUIO CITY — The Department of Trade and Industry – Cordillera Administrative Region (DTI-CAR) heads the KAPEtirya Roll-out Activities held on Monday, 27 January 2023 at the KAPEtirya, DPS Compound Upper Session Road, Baguio City through blended mode with participants from all DTI Regional Offices, partner agencies, and private stakeholders. The two-hour activity focused on the concept, guidelines, and policies on the use of the KAPEtirya brand as a promotion hub for Philippine local coffees, including the sharing by the KAPEtirya Baguio operator.

The KAPEtirya is one of the major marketing accomplishments in the coffee industry as promoted by the Department of Trade and Industry. The initiative is the Philippine brand for an establishment dedicated to brewing, serving, and selling quality coffees of Philippine origin. The Kapetirya as a brand aims to promote specialty Philippine Coffees as a product that is proudly preferred by Filipinos and guests over other coffees of the world. It is a product that nurtures friendship among families, friends, and colleagues- these are values that are very much Filipino.

In her message, the DTI-Regional Operations Group (ROG) Undersecretary shared her hope for each region to have its own KAPEtirya where local coffee and coffee MSMEs will be celebrated. “It is therefore a challenge to all regions here today. We would like to see a KAPEtirya in each region, which will serve as a marketing opportunity for our local coffee farmers and MSMEs… a home for local Philippine coffee. Dapat kapag mapupunta tayo sa isang rehiyon, may KAPEtirya na pwedeng puntahan para matikman ang masasarap na local coffee ng bansa”.

Likewise, Ms. Angela Tan, the Managing Partner of the Barista and Coffee Academy of Asia, Inc., is currently the operator of KAPEtirya, presented how KAPEtirya was operated from 2019 to the present, including the challenges, innovations, and other pertinent information that can be considered for potential promoters and users of the marketing brand.
