Dedicated to uphold the agency’s motto: “Serbisyong Higit pa sa Inaasahan”, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Kalinga turned over the livelihood starter kits to the 25 NSB-LSP beneficiaries held at Davidson Hotel, Tabuk City on 1 September 2021.

The awarding ceremony commenced with an opening message of Provincial Director (PD) Renie M. Ramos highlighting the importance of business opportunities granted by the government in this time of pandemic. He congratulated the beneficiaries for being chosen as beneficiaries of the Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay-Livelihood Seeding Program. “These starter kits are like seeds that need to be managed carefully in order to grow and prosper”, he accentuated. Mr. Henry B. Gupaal, Executive Assistant IV, representative of City Mayor Darwin Estrañero, gave an inspirational message to the beneficiaries. “Nowadays, life becomes more challenging because of the crisis we’re facing but the government will never stop finding ways to make its constituents live with sustainability.” He thanked the DTI Kalinga for extending their effort to help the micro entrepreneurs of Tabuk City especially that they were greatly affected by the pandemic crisis.

He also challenged the beneficiaries to continue operating their small businesses as they play an important role in leveraging the local economy. “You are privileged enough to be assisted by DTI in helping your business grow and prosper. We hope for an effective impact of this program through your determination in managing your business” he stressed.

Emphasizing the importance of entrepreneurship, Ms. Hazel M. Bagni, Provincial Coordinator of SBC, delivered a motivational talk entitled The Entrepreneur’s Mind. She started her talk with a striking quote “All great businesses begin with a great idea”, and displayed photos of some successful entrepreneurs. She also emphasized the Top 10 Entrepreneurial Competencies of an Entrepreneur.

“There is no elevator to success; you need to take the stairs”, she concluded.

Complementing the motivational talk on Entrepreneurship, Ms. Agnes O. Luda, owner of Hagne Food Products, delivered a Testimonial Message on how she conquered the world of entrepreneurship. Ms. Luda, a DTI Kalinga’s pride and one of the leading local entrepreneurs, shared her victorious story amidst the challenges she faced during the start of her business.

“Yes, it was really hard to start your business if you’re not passionate to it”, she highlighted.

She encouraged the beneficiaries to keep their passion in business alive and embrace the challenges that surround them, and make God as the center of their lives.

“In business, you must uphold confidence and negotiating skill in order for you to attract customers or clients. I won’t achieve this success without pouring my persistence and strong will in my business”, she ended.
The barangay officials also gave their full support to their constituents. Hon. Brgy. Captain Jerry Donga, reminded the beneficiaries to scale up their business as they impart a big contribution to the levelling up of the local economy.

Furthermore, Mr. Sagalon Cawas, a soft broom manufacturer-beneficiary expressed his message of gratitude to the agency and the local government officials for the assistance and provision of livelihood kits that will help them in improving their businesses.

“We are truly grateful for this opportunity. Thank you for choosing us as your beneficiaries and with this provision of starter kits, these make us motivated to keep pursuing to our respective businesses”, he articulated.
The livelihood starter kits were distributed to the beneficiaries after signing of documents.
