Bunawan, Agusan del Sur – Thirty (30) members of the Bunawan Integrated Farmers Association (BIFA) participated in the two-day training on bookkeping and store management organized by Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Agusan del Sur, 28-29 October 2021.

This training aims to prepare the BIFA members for their new business venture as an association. Rezel May Goloran of DTI Agusan del Sur served as the facilitator and introduced bookkeping for a retail store and proper store management. The training also encouraged farmers to record financial transactions for better business management.

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga, through its Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), granted the farmer association a general merchandise business amounting to P477,000.

“The directions of this project granted by DSWD-SLP is now made clearer through this training by the DTI. This capability building training will surely enhance our entrepreneurial skills in running a retail business,'” said BIFA President Lilibeth Zarate.

DTI Agusan del Sur Provincial Director (PD) Jose T. Baron, Jr said that the Negosyo Centers will continue on working with other government agencies and private organizations in fulfilling the mandate to assist the micro-small entrepreneurs like farmer associations toward developing globally competitive businesses.

“Our Negosyo Center business counsellors will always be happy to bring new lessons to aspiring entrepreneurs especially those who aim to engage in merchandising in their local communities,” PD Baron added. ♦
