JABONGA, AGUSAN DEL NORTE – As a means to help consumers in remote areas, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through the Negosyo Center (NC) in Agusan del Norte, partnered with the local government unit of Jabonga in bringing basic and prime commodities close to the communities.

The DTI-Agusan del Norte started last April 21 the One Stop Tindahan on Wheels in Brgy. San Vicente of the municipality.

According to DTI-Agusan del Norte Provincial Director Brenda Corvera, the initiative aims to provide easier access of basic necessities and other grocery items to the residents of Jabonga, thus avoiding the need for the people to travel downtown.

“It is also designed to help suppliers mobilize their goods as the municipality of Jabonga, together with the rest of the nation, fight against COVID-19,” Corvera added.

The rolling store catered around 200 individuals in Brgy. San Vicente. Basic food items such as rice, noodles, coffee, milk and sugar became a hit among the residents of the said barangay.

NC Jabonga invited suppliers from the municipality to supply the needed grocery items for the rolling store.

LGU Jabonga, headed by Mayor Napoleon Montero, also supported the One Stop Tindahan on Wheels and provided two vehicles to be used by the rolling store, which is set to cater more barangays in the succeeding days.

The Negosyo Center is a major program of DTI that caters to the entrepreneurs’ need in processing requirements to establish a business, and in accessing information essential for their growth.

The program is implemented by the DTI-Regional Operations Group spearheaded by Undersecretary Blesila Lantayona. To date, there are now 1,125 NCs nationwide. ♦
