Enforcement team of DTI Misamis Oriental starts monitoring Christmas lights sold in business establishments.

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Misamis Oriental has started its Fair Trade Law (FTL) Monitoring and Enforcement: Operation Christmas Lights in Cagayan de Oro City last 5 November 2021.

The enforcement team of the DTI provincial office checked for the Philippine Standard (PS) mark or Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) sticker usually found in the packaging or wire of Christmas lights. The PS mark or ICC sticker is issued to products that have passed safety tests.

No violations were noted from 21 business establishments that were inspected in the city. Thirteen of the establishments were compliant to the required product certifications while the remaining eight stores were currently not selling Christmas lights.

DTI continues to remind consumers to check for quality of Christmas lights when buying.

Consumers should also make sure to check the name, address, and trademark of the importer or the distributor of the product.

The monitoring of Christmas lights will continue until December 2021. ♦
