Department of Trade and Industry-Northern Mindanao (DTI-NorMin) has awarded Safety Seals to 58 business establishments under its issuing authority in the region.

The Safety Seal is a voluntary certification scheme that affirms that an establishment is compliant with the minimum public health standards set by the government and uses or integrates its contact tracing with StaySafe.ph.

The Safety Seal is to be conspicuously displayed at all entrance points of the building or establishment.

Nineteen business establishments are major supermarket or grocery stores in the region, 18 convenience stores, 13 construction supply or hardware stores, two barbershops or salons, three logistics service providers, and three service and repair shops.

Thirty-four awarded business establishments are in Misamis Oriental, with 30 in Cagayan de Oro City; 11 in Bukidnon; eight in Misamis Occidental; and five in Lanao del Norte.

An additional of more than 50 applications have been received for inspection by the provincial offices of DTI-Region 10.

Aside from serving as a certificate of good housekeeping to an establishment, business establishments awarded with Safety Seal certifications are also allowed to operate at an additional ten percentage points beyond the prescribed on-site operational or venue/seating capacity, whichever is applicable, regardless of community quarantine classification, per DTI Memorandum Circular 21-28.

Business establishments under the issuing authority of DTI can apply at no cost for a Safety Seal online at dti.gov.ph/SafetySeal. ♦
