Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) conducted technical advisory visits to salons and barbershops and dine-in restaurants and fastfood establishments across Northern Mindanao to ensure compliance in the DTI-DOLE interim guidelines on workplace prevention and control of COVID-19. DTI additionally checked if the establishments are compliant to the health and safety protocols upon reopening their establishments.  

126 establishments including 73 dine-in restaurants and 43 barbershops were inspected as of June 26, 2020. The technical visits revealed that most establishments were generally compliant to the basic social distancing measures such as enjoining customers to wear face masks, observe social distancing of one meter between persons including in queueing area, and availability of floor mat and foot bath with disinfectant and alcohol for sanitation of hands in the entrance of every establishment. A few establishments were also found to have adapted the use of technology through QR codes for customers to easily generate the health checklist, the restaurant’s menu or the cashless payment option of the store.     

To recall, DTI has issued minimum health protocols for barbershops and salons and dine-in restaurants and food establishments in response to the inter-agency task force (IATF) resolution that allows the said establishments to open at 50% capacity in areas under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

The DTI provincial offices will continue its weekly technical advisory visits to barbershops and restaurants to ensure that all establishments are observing the minimum health protocol. Establishments found to be non-compliant will be given three days to adhere to the guidelines provided.♦
