DIGOS CITY – In accordance with the Province of Davao del Sur – Office of the Governor Executive Order No. 43, Series of 2020, Department of Trade and Industry Davao del Sur (DTI-Davao Del Sur), being a member of the Implementation Committee under the aforementioned EO, takes an active role in the implementation and information dissemination on the COVID-19 Contact Tracing System or CCTS.

Under the said EO, DTI-Davao del Sur is assigned to monitor the implementation of CCTS among business establishments in Davao del Sur.

Hence last 28 September 2020, DTI-Davao del Sur hosted a Zoom meeting for business establishments to discuss the significance, registration process, and implementation of CCTS. The said provincial office also hosted the same meeting for churches and archdioceses last 6 October 2020.

Furthermore, starting last week, through the leadership of Provincial Director Delia Ayano, the staff of DTI-Davao del Sur have undergone online registration and are expected to reproduce their CCTS Cards containing unique quick response or QR codes.

The CCTS, locally developed by the Provincial Government of South Cotabato, is a “digitized or electronic logbook system” using Android and a web-based application. It is designed to fast-track contact tracing in local establishments and offices for possible COVID-19 cases.

Through a mobile application, the digital logs will be stored in a cloud server that will provide the name, contact number, as well as the date and time a person enters an establishment hence facilitating faster contact tracing in case a COVID-19 case is detected.

Recently, the CCTS has been recognized internationally for its effectiveness and was highlighted in the United Nations General Assembly last 24 September 2020.♦
