KORONADAL CITY, SOUTH COTABATO –A webinar on Stockroom Pest Control and Management was conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry 12 – General Santos City Office to the owners and representatives of the micro, small and medium enterprises of the Gensan.

The free webinar aims to educate the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) of General Santos on the good practices in stockroom pest control and management in order to improve daily business operations and avoid product pilferage.

A total of 39 entrepreneurs coming from the aqua, tuna, wearable and home-styles, and food processing sectors together with representatives from partner agencies were present to the said virtual training that was conducted last September 8, 2020.

Geovanne A. Abejaron, a licensed exterminator and fumigator of the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority, served as the resource speaker, shared about the importance of disinfecting the stockrooms.

Among the important practical learning of the participants includes the different disinfection techniques and pest control devices that they can be used in their respective stockrooms. Pest control is viewed significant as many types of pest present in the urban environment are carriers of disease, causes substantial product pilferage and can even destroy business reputation. ♦
