GENERAL SANTOS CITY — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 12, through its General Santos City Satellite Office and in partnership with the City Economic Management and Cooperative Development Office (CEMCDO) of the Local Government Unit of General Santos City has recently concluded the month-long YAMAN Gensan resulting to Php 6.2 million cash sales and more than 1,000 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) assisted.

With this year’s theme “Patuloy sa Pagyabong: Embracing Digitalization and Innovation,” the YAMAN GENSAN or Yabong Maliliit na Negosyo sa Gensan, is an annual event in the city that celebrates and promotes its MSMEs.

One of the major events mounted in line with the celebration is the Yaman Gensan Trade Fair and Exhibit which generated a total of Php 3.1 million sales for the 46 participating MSMEs with Php 276 thousand coming from digital sales.

Meanwhile, over 100 prospective exporters from Region 12 gathered to learn about export-related topics during the USAPANG EXPORTS: Export Opportunities and Market Updates for Region 12 Exporters & Would-be Exporters featuring speakers from DTI Export Marketing Bureau.

A total of 65 MSMEs from the Gensan Food Quest Vendors Association participated in the YAMAN Gensan Vendor’s Fair, showcasing for sale a variety of food and non-food products, in the process earning more than Php 3 million in sales.

As a highly urbanized city, coffee shops and coffee processing are among the sunrise businesses thus, a 3-day Coffee Fair was also conducted to celebrate the city’s coffee stakeholders, featuring side events such as the coffee art competition, coffee forum, and brewer’s cup competition, and earning Php 120 thousand in sales for the exhibitors.

During the Partners’ Appreciation Night on August 17, DTI-12 Regional Director Flora Politud-Gabunales conveyed her gratitude for the chance to collaborate with the local government and its partners in implementing YAMAN Gensan.

“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings. Indeed, we are so blessed to have each other. Natapos na nga yung ating mga events, but mind you, it’s not the end of it all, beginning pa lang iyon of more meaningful engagements, our events have indeed concluded, but mind you, it’s not the end of it all. This is just the beginning of more meaningful engagements,” said Politud-Gabunales.

Now in its 21st edition, YAMAN Gensan has broadened its support to MSMEs by collaborating with various partners, including other government agencies, academe, and business organizations. ♦
