Five of the 100 millionth babies in the region who are now children, together with their families, were given livelihood packages through the “Livelihood Assistance Program,” a joint effort of the Department of Trade and Industry Region 2, and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation – Regional Office II. The distribution was held in the residences of the beneficiaries located at Dodan, Penablanca, Cagayan; Masipi East, Cabagan; Tagaran, Cauayan City; and Saguday, Quirino, on April 3–4, 2023.

This initiative was also part of the commitment of DTI R2 to the Regional Population Executive Board (RPEB) to give support to five of the 100 millionth babies in the region through the provision of livelihood supplies.

The kits, worth approximately P9,000 each, consist of sari-sari store packages that the child beneficiaries and their families received.

In 2021, PHIC R2 and DTI R2, inked a partnership to collaborate for poverty alleviation through the empowerment of the disadvantaged during the pandemic and improving the quality of their lives through the partnership project dubbed as “DTI-PhilHealth-R2 Livelihood Assistance Program” (LAP).

The awarding activity was organized and facilitated by DTI R2 regional and provincial offices, PHIC, and the Commission on Population and Development R2 (PopCom) which was also attended by representatives from the concerned LGUs.
