To prepare Region 2 MSMEs for the upcoming Padday na Lima Regional Trade and Investment Fair (RTIF) on 25 November 2022, the SME Development Division’s Marketing and Promotions Unit, in collaboration with the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC) and SHINE Cagayan Valley-RIIC, concluded its series on Market Expansions and Market Opportunities Webinar on 5 August 2022 via Zoom.

The topic, Effective Trade Fair Participation, completes the three-subject virtual sessions that covered the prior themes, Costing and Pricing and Effective Negotiation, which were held on July 20 and 26, respectively.

In his opening message, Division Chief Ramil Garcia shared his gratitude to the MSMEs for responding to the call of the department to further develop their marketing and management skills for the upcoming trade fair. He also shared how this RTIF is different from the past Padday na Lima RTFs.

“This funnels everything that DTI is doing, and it serves as the crowning glory of the office.” In the different programs and projects of the DTI, it’s only when we conduct a trade fair that we join hands from the different units of the SMED Division, and this time, we will include everything that you haven’t seen before, and that’s why we’re brewing it out, “he said.

Additionally, Mr. Cloyd Velasco of Shine Cagayan Valley-RIIC committed his support to this activity.

“Thanks to DTI for these initiatives because our MSMEs all have the potential for growth.” I want to encourage everyone to be active in participating in the DTI initiatives. We in RIIC extend our commitment to work hand in hand for the MSMEs and will contribute not only to inclusive but innovative growth for them,” he emphasized.

At the training proper, resource speaker Victorino Datun of PTTC conducted a combination of lecture and workshop for the participating members. He introduced different strategies, behaviors, and technology through the STEEP (Social-cultural, Technological, Economic, Environmental, and Political) Micro-Environment Scanning.

The method presents different aspects of how to be an efficient exhibitor at trade fairs.

He also let the participants identify different possible risks and opportunities through a breakout room session.

In conclusion, Assistant Division Chief, Atty. Mike Paggabao, thanked the PTTC for continually helping the MSMEs in every way possible to improve and enhance their capabilities.

“As it was in the previous sessions, this one is really a productive discussion. “We at DTI are determined to allow our MSMEs to take on different opportunities in the market, which could only be possible if we prepare you enough to optimize the same,” Atty. Paggabao remarked.

The said webinar was attended by the food and non-food sector MSMEs of Cagayan Valley with a total of 60 attendees. ♦
