Ensuing the recent achievements in her career, Department of Trade and Industry Region 2 Regional Director Leah Pulido Ocampo’s words spoke volumes at the 18th Commencement Exercises of the Nueva Vizcaya State University-Bambang Campus on 28 October 2022.
Going with the theme “Riding the Crest of the New Normal”, RD Leah, as the guest speaker, shared with the graduating class of 2021-2022 her lifelong journey from being a public school girl to a working professional going around the globe, making remarkable things, and building her long-lived aspirations for the country.
“Mahirap ang buhay ngunit iyong ay hindi naging hadlang upang magpursigi at mangarap,” said RD Leah.
RD Leah also shared her journey at the University of the Philippines, where she graduated, the Bureau of Agricultural Economics as her first job, and the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), where her acquired skills were manifested globally.
The director challenged the graduates by laying out the boundless possibilities of the career paths they are going to take, especially in the New Normal where everything is going digital. She enumerated new job titles, job descriptions, their salary range in US dollar, and the opportunity to work for foreign clients without leaving the country.
She added that the most important milestone for her was to see thousands of MSMEs grow their businesses and achieve their dream of capturing a slice of the global market and, in the process, contribute immensely to the economic growth while generating employment for the Filipino people.
RD Leah commended the graduates who embodied strength and did not let the pandemic as devastating as COVID-19 destroy their dreams, hopes, aspirations, and high spirits. She also appreciated the parents and guardians of the graduates whom she called the real heroes in the commencement activity.
“Kahit sino ka man, pwedeng magkaroon ng mahalagang ambag sa lipunan. Hindi hadlang ang kahirapan. Hindi importante kung saang probinsya ka galling, ang importante ay may puso kang maglingkod, hindi lamang sa iyong pamilya kundi pati na rin sa komunidad na iyong ginagalawan, lalong-lalo na para sa bayan,” she ended. #
