Rain or shine, DTI Region 2 reached out to hundreds of families in Agugaddan, Peñablanca, Cagayan, including the Agta Community for an Outreach Program-Negosyo at Serbisyo sa Barangay on 21 October 2022 which included Free Business Advisory and Legal and Medical Consultations.
Initiated by the SME Development Division headed by DC Ramil Garcia and ADC Atty. Michael Paggabao, this activity was aimed at providing aid by bringing and extending the services of the agency even in the remote barangays of the province. This was achieved through the coordinated efforts of the DTI-Multi-Purpose Cooperative, the Department of Health Region 02, Baculi-Paggabao Law Office, and in coordination with the Barangay Officials of Agugaddan, Peñablanca, Cagayan.
With the desire to keep spreading goodness and help the beneficiaries with some necessities, more than 100 families were provided with entrepreneurial development through business consultations, including food and health needs, which were given to the families and children. Free legal consultation was also facilitated by the members of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Cagayan Chapter.
Moreover, food packs and other in-kind donations were given to the Agta community residing in the area.
Among the volunteers who supported and actively joined the activity were Dra. Jemi Kezia Iringan and Dra. Carmina Abuzo, both from the Doctors to the Barrios (DTTB) program of the DOH, and the lawyers from the IBP-Cagayan Chapter, namely: Atty. Michael B. Paggabao and Atty. Tshane Lucas.
With everything that’s happening globally—the inflation, the pandemic that has led to economic and health crises—DTI R2 looks forward to initiating more activities like this to aid the communities by bringing its services closer to the people.
