PASAY CITY — Showcased “Bamboo Works”, the Philippine Bamboo Industry Development Council’s (PBIDC) pavilion, the country’s leading bamboo enterprises were at this year’s Philippine International Furniture Show (PIFS), at the SMX Convention Center Manila, which ran on 9 March until 11 March 2023.
Curated and styled by the renowned product specialist, creative artist, and designer, Mr. Al Caronan, “Bamboo Works” showcased handcrafted bamboo furniture, interior furnishings, light fixtures, and furniture-grade and architectural material from leading bamboo enterprises such as Cawayan Architectural Products (engineered bamboo milled boards), Northway Arts and Crafts (hand-painted woven bamboo bilao wall décor, bamboo storage boxes, bamboo plate chargers), Kultur Siak (bamboo table-top lamps, bamboo pendant light fixtures), Seven M Craft Industries (hand-painted bamboo wine holders and organizers, bamboo rustic clocks, and bamboo speakers) and Pampanga Furniture Industries Foundation, Inc. (bamboo lounge chairs, bamboo center tables, bamboo sculptures, and a bamboo table and bench set).
The annual event gathered thousands of furniture and home decor enthusiasts from all over the world, and was also opened for networking opportunities for furniture designers, manufacturers, and exporters to help each of the industry players extend their reach and strengthen their connections.
Kultur Siak’s “Pis-sat” received a nomination in the PIFS Design Awards for the Home Accessory category. “Pis-sat” is a panel board made with hand-woven bamboo strips intricately designed by Ar. Cesar Ocampo. *
