Majayjay, Laguna — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Laguna Provincial Office conducted Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (NSB) – Livelihood Seeding Program (LSP) at the Covered Court, Suba Elementary School, Brgy. Suba, Majayjay, Laguna, on July 21, 2020. A capability building seminar for Barangay Officials and Barangay Development Council Members for the four barangays such as Olla, Munting Kawayan, Suba, and Ibabang Bayucain was facilitated and participated by 45 attendees (including 5 Senior Citizens). A total of 361 NSB-LSP information kits (information materials and brochures on MSME Development and Consumer Protection) were provided and distributed. The following topics were discussed: Orientation of DTI Programs and Services, How to Setup Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay Desk, How to Start a Business, and Basic Consumer Rights and Responsibilities cum Salient Features of the Consumer Act of the Philippines.
Moreover, the NSB Desk signages were distributed to the said barangays as they are committed and willing to have an operational NSB Desk to serve the would-be and existing micro, small and medium enterprises. The program intends to support a grassroots approach to enterprise development, promote engagement of local leaders and MSME enablers, and activate the formation of industry associations, cooperatives, and youth organizations. This will also increase the awareness of barangay officials about the services of the DTI through the Negosyo Centers. ♦
