SANTA ROSA, LAGUNA – The Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna) Negosyo Center Santa Rosa City was established to serve as a support system to nurture and facilitate growth of the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). To further promote the services of the center, an SME Roving Academy that discusses the latest and existing issues affecting the business sector during the pandemic was conducted via an online conferencing platform on 18 May 2021. This aims to help the MSMEs navigate and survive this pandemic turmoil by providing them a guide for ideas and opportunities that they can seize to sustain their business through changing times.

Mr. Nicanor C. Satur Jr. served as the resource speaker for the said event. He is the President of Satur Events Management and Marketing Solutions. He is also a business consultant, public speaker, and trainer. As a Revenue Optimizer consultant, he has guided authors, public speakers, politicians, businesses, and professionals to increase sales and achieve their business goals by helping them identify the best marketing, branding, and social media strategies.

Satur opened the seminar lecture by discussing the current effects of the pandemic on the entirety of the business sector and the number of small business owners forced to close their businesses.

He also shared his entrepreneurial experience during this pandemic when he faced several struggles to keep his business up and running and how he managed to get back up. With his own experience as a model, he was able to connect with the MSMEs’ challenges and encourage them to follow his example on how he was able to recover during this difficult time. He advised the MSMEs about the importance of perseverance. Moreover, he suggested the MSMEs to keep looking for opportunities on how they can innovate through applying the services they offer with a different method of execution. Satur gave his insights and knowledge on how to make sure that our MSMEs are equipped with the right tools and knowledge to continue moving forward and face the new normal for their businesses through marketing strategies as well.

In addition, Satur introduced another mentor, Mr. Jerry Yao, the Marketing Sensei, to share five strategies of Social Media Marketing. Yao explained that there are several social media platforms that the MSMEs can take advantage of aside from Facebook since it is overpopulated with posts from other users. By using other social media platforms, MSMEs will increase their business publicity and engagement. It will also provide them a competitive advantage versus their business competitor who uses only Facebook as social media tool.

The seminar properly ended with an open forum for the participants to clarify some concepts and to share their experiences as well. Facilitators of the said event were Negosyo Center Business Counsellor Nico A. Toriano and Local Government Unit-designated Negosyo Center Staff Ms. Aileen Abanes, Ms. Kate Katigbak, and Mr. Janmartin Almodovar in partnership with the City Cooperative Development Office.

A total of 38 participants attended the said webinar and more than 40 Facebook users were seen viewing the event via the Negosyo Center City of Santa Rosa Laguna Facebook page. ♦
