As part of the agency’s goal of providing livelihood assistance to economic sectors affected by calamities, the Batangas Provincial Office has been implementing the Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa Program, or PPG, since the year 2020. This program aims to assist eligible beneficiaries through the provision of information materials on entrepreneurship; the conduct of enterprise development training; business counselling and mentoring; and the provision of livelihood kits to enable them to restart or recover their calamity-stricken businesses.

As such, with the perpetual support of the Business Permit and Licensing Office in each local government unit, DTI Batangas has pre-identified a number of potential beneficiaries in selected municipalities in the province – Ibaan, San Luis, Lian, Tuy, Cuenca, and Calatagan.

Prior to the provision of training, materials, and kits, the concerned account officers conducted profiling and validation of the selected beneficiaries to assess whether they meet the guidelines set under Department Order no. 22-01. In the month of April, beneficiaries in Ibaan and San Luis were profiled and validated. Moreover, validation was made in Lian and Tuy in May. While in June, validation was completed in the municipalities of Cuenca and Calatagan.

Due to the high volume of beneficiaries in each municipality, the account officers sought assistance from the Negosyo Center business counsellors in the nearby towns. In the first semester of 2022, 667 out of 1228 beneficiaries were profiled and validated. To meet the target number of beneficiaries assisted, DTI Batangas plans to assist other municipalities in the province who were not yet included in the initial tranches of assistance in the years 2020 and 2021.
